2010 Beginners Teeline Shorthand

This course teaches Teeline shorthand, which is a system of fast writing. Participants will learn to omit unnecessary letters and streamline longhand letters. Advanced principles for speedwriting are covered from week 11. On the final evening speeds of 40+ non-standard or 60+ standard words per minute under the Australian Standard 2907 may be attempted.

Journalists, editors, personal assistants, students or anyone needing to learn how to write fast will benefit from attending.

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a theory and speed building certificate and depending on results a non-standard or standard AS2907 speed certificate.

1.             2 March to 8 June - 6pm to 9pm over 15 consecutive Tuesday evenings - Room 2.7065

2.             10 Aug to 16 Nov - 6pm to 9pm over 15 consecutive Tuesday evenings - Room 2.7065

2010 Advanced Shorthand

By attending this course, current shorthand speeds can increase by 30 words per minute or more.  Extensive practice will be offered on various materials such as business, company-related, journalism based, political and general interest. Advanced groupings, speed outlines and advanced theory principles will also be covered.

Participants will have the opportunity to attempt speed tests with 98% accuracy from 60 standard per minute upwards under the AS2907 during the course.

You need at least 30 words per minute shorthand to attend this course.

Course fee: $495 (full fee) or $330 (concession) - previous shorthand students receive a 10% discount.

Journalists, editors, personal assistants, students or anyone needing to increase their shorthand speeds will benefit. 

1.           28 June to 28 July  - 6pm to 9pm over 5 weeks - Monday & Wednesday evenings.

The lecturer for both courses, Terree Gower has taught shorthand to journalists and others for many years; as well as teaching keyboard, various computing packages and business administration subjects.  Terree has been tutoring at the ACIJ for five years and is qualified to instruct and administer shorthand tests to the Australian Standard AS2907.
